About the District
The District Gautam Buddh Nagar was formed on 6/9/97 with effect from Govt. order no 1249/97/82/97 by carving out the portions of Ghaziabad and Bulandshahar. District Gautam Buddh Nagar includes Dadri and Bisrakh blocks carved out of gaziabad, while Dankaur and Jewar blocks have been carved out of Bulandshahar District. 18 other villages from Bulandshahar have also been carved out and have been included in Dankaur and Jewar.

History
The District Gautam Buddh Nagar was formed on 6/9/97 with effect from Govt. order no 1249/97/82/97 by carving out the portions of Ghaziabad and Bulandshahar. District Gautam Buddh Nagar includes Dadri and Bisrakh blocks carved out of gaziabad, while Dankaur and Jewar blocks have been carved out of Bulandshahar District. 18 other villages from Bulandshahar have also been carved out and have been included in Dankaur and Jewar.
However the area occupied by this district has a very glorious past, which has a root in Tretayug (Ramayan Kaal) as Bisrakh the birthplace of Rawan s father, Viseswa Rishi, lies in this land. In Dwapar Yug (Mahabharat Kaal)- Dankore was the Dronacharya s Ashram, where Kaurav n Pandav took their training in Astra n Shastra. Eklavaya-the disciple of Dronacharya also hails from this place.
In medieval India , Kasna was known as Keshav Garh. The Gurjjar Community- their primary occupation was cattle raring-has always dominated this region. Bhati Rajput from Jaisalmer (Rajasthan) came here to rule this area. They got married their children to Gurjjar community. Children from these marriges r now known as Bhati -Gurjjar. Rulers from Nagore (Rajasthan) also came here to rule. They also got married their children to Gurjjar s. Children from these marriges r now known as Nagar s . Sati Nihal Dei belongs to this land, she used to visit Surajpur Lake for sacred bath.
People from this land were actively associated with the National Freedom Struggle. Shri Gopi Chand, Shri Ram Nath, Shri Harsharan Singh etc. are a few names. Even Bhagat Singh, Sukh Dev n Rajguru used village Nalgara - on Noida-Greater Noida Express way to hide during the freedom struggle. They planned bomb attack on assembly from Nalgara.

Geographical Position
District Gautam Budhh Nagar is situated in the west of Uttar Pradesh.The district has area between the two main rivers of india namely Ganga and Yamuna. In the North of the district Ghaziabad and borders of Delhi,in the south Aligarh, In the east Bulandshahar, in the west Border of Haryana State are located. Due to the Sandy and Loam Soil , the main crops of the district are wheat, rice and sugar cane . In some areas, millet is also planted. The total geographical area of the district is 1442 sq. km.
Administrative Divisions
The district is divided into three TEHSILS named as Sadar, Daadri & Jewar. Tehsils are divided into Development Blocks. Dankaur is the development block in the Sadar tehsil, Bisrakh & Daadri are the development blocks in the Daadri Tehsil, Jewar is the development block in the Jewar tehsil.
Source of Living
The main source of living for the people of this district is agriculture.The main crops of the district are wheat, rice and sugar cane . In some areas, millet is also planted. However, due to Noida & Greater Noida industrial area under Bisrakh block , the main means of livelihood here are industrial workers, technical, engineering & management services.
Economical Structure
Being in the purview of ncr, the development of the district is moving with a fast pace.Noida & Greater Noida of the district are world class industrial hubs.In Noida / Greater Noida industrial areas many large scale industries have been established by the multinational companies like Daewoo Motor, HONDA MANUFACTURING, CL, BPL, LG, HCL , etc. Industrialisation is taking place in other areas of the district also.So, in terms of economical structure the district is important not just at state level but also at national level. 25% of the total revenue of Uttar Pradesh is recieved from Gautam Buddh Nagar.

The district head quarter Greater Noida is located in the north of Uttar pradesh It is under the purview of the National Capital Region (NCR) of India. It is located about 40-kilometre (25 mi) south-east of Delhi and about 20-kilometre (12 mi) south-east of Noida which is an integral part of district and one of the largest industrial townships in U.P.
